North Bay Deck Cleaning
North Bay Deck Cleaning: If you are lucky enough to have a deck area attached to your home, you know that they can be amazing places to hang out on with friends and family. But, because you probably like to show off that deck, taking pride in the ownership of it, you probably also want your deck to always be looking as nice as possible. This can be a bit of an issue, since decks are constantly exposed to the elements. However, if you are finding it hard to find time to clean the deck up, have no fear, as we are here to help!
Wood Deck Most home decks re constructed of wood. Wood is relatively inexpensive, can be purchased nearly anywhere, and on top of that, wood does a great job t holding up to the elements. Wood is very sturdy, and when treated, it can resist most moisture. For this reason, wood makes an excellent choice for an outdoor area. However, because wood is naturally porous, if the treatment starts to come off of it, mold spores can start to grow. This can lead to the wood being broken down; causing danger to anyone sitting on the deck. For this reason, wood decks should always be routinely cleaned. Sweep The first step that we always want to try, in cleaning your deck, is to use a nice, stiff bristled push broom to remove as much surface dirt, and growth, as we can. If this is done regularly, it is often enough to keep the deck in tip top shape. After the sweeping happens, we will usually come in with a hose, and give the deck a nice rinse. This help to further remove any dirt, or growths, that the sweeping has dislodged. This process should only be done in time of the year when freezing will likely not happen. Pressure Wash If your deck has not been cleaned in a long time, or it has gone through a particularly harsh winter season, it may need a heavier clean than just a simple brush and hose down. When the light clean does not work, it is time to move on to something with a little more power. When it’s called for, we can bring in a pressure washer to really get the built up grime off of that deck. We will keep the pressure low, so as to not hurt the deck, while making sure we eliminate all of the dirt. Stripping A follow up service that we can sometimes provide is stripping. During the stripping process, we use the same pressure washer as we do in a deep clean, except we crank up the power even more. With this process what we are trying to do is remove the top most layer of paint from your deck. If you are looking to repaint, or re-stain your deck, stripping is the first step you will need to do. We would love to help you with this, so that you can redo your deck. |
